Verdi-Requiem
Dive into the world of symphonic choral music and experience the humanely touching Verdi-Requiem, a spectacular embodiment of Giuseppe Verdi's musical skill. This powerful Requiem, composed by the renowned Italian opera composer, is set to come alive in the St. Pankratiuskirche in Bockenem, one of the ripe locales for experiencing remarkable moments in the cultural life of the Hildesheim region and Vorharz country.
Join us, as over 200 participants fill the altar area of the church for this dramatic yet deeply spiritual performance that has been continuously stirring souls since its premiere. The Verdi-Requiem is representative of the symphonic choral music genre at its best, integrating the spirit of opera in the most exquisite sense of the word.
We are proud to present the combined forces of the concert choir of the SingAkademie Niedersachsen and the Philharmonic Choir Braunschweig, pooling a total of 140 singers under the skilled direction of Claus-Ulrich Heinke for this significant event.
Be prepared for the stunning orchestral part to be performed by the esteemed Junge Philharmonische Orchester Niedersachsen JPON, including four offstage trumpets resonating through the sacred halls of the St. Pankratiuskirche. Taking center stage in the solo parts will be gifted performers - Florentine Schumann (Soprano), Ruth Katharina Peeck (Alto), Michael Bracegirdle (Tenor) and Jakob Kreß (Bass).
Experience the musical grandeur of the Verdi-Requiem concert series in the charming old town of Bockenem, which is well connected via the BAB 7 - needless to say, an absolute highlight for fans of operatic choral music and anyone looking for spectacular music events.
We recommend utilizing parking at Edeka and Netto, a comfortable 2-minute walk away. Be welcomed by the newly designed Buchholzmarkt, with the St. Pankratiuskirche standing majestically right in its center.
Also, save the date for the 28th of October. The Verdi-Requiem is set to take place in the same grandeur at St. Johanneskirche in Braunschweig at 19.00, featuring Johannes Höing, the conductor of the Philharmonic Choir Braunschweig.
